Online crime maps

[29 July 2008]

New interactive crime maps allowing every neighbourhood in England and Wales to access local crime information will be ready by the end of the year.

The government have said that the maps will show where and when crime happened, to keep the public better informed. The crime maps will also offer comparisons with other areas and explain how crime is being tackled by their local neighbourhood policing team. London Mayor Boris Johnson has said that London crime maps will be available for Londoners next month. He called the maps a 'proven technique for increasing public safety'.
