Murder inquiry launched after man dies in hospital

A murder investigation has been launched after a man who sustained serious head injuries has died in hospital.  [30 July 2010]

Paul Woods, aged 29, was admitted to Southern General Hospital after being found in Maryhill Road, Glasgow. Mr Woods had sustained serious head injuries when discovered opposite the Maryhill Tavern at approximately 10pm on Wednesday.

He later died in hospital.

Police appeal

A post-mortem will be carried out in order to determine the cause of death. Police are appealing for information.

Det Insp John Kennedy said: "I would urge anyone who was in the area of Maryhill Road opposite the Maryhill Tavern around 2200 hours on Wednesday night, or anyone with information regarding this murder to come forward to police."
