Man charged over shooting of solicitor in Wiltshire

A man has been charged over the shooting of 58-year-old solicitor James Ward [4 July 2012].

Mr Ward was shot in the head shortly before 3pm on Monday. The incident occurred in his office at Morris, Goddard & Ward Solicitors on St John's Street in Devizes, Wiltshire.

The man has been charged with attempted murder, firearms offences and threats to kill. He is reported to be a 62-year-old man from Rowde, a nearby village.

He will appear before magistrates in Salisbury later and will remain in police custody until then.

Mr Ward was airlifted to Frenchay hospital in Bristol after the incident. He remains in a very serious condition after suffering life-threatening injuries.
