Jealous, drunken killer given life sentence

James Bellas, who strangled his girlfriend because she was late replying to his text, was jailed for life yesterday.
Bellas, 36, was in a drunken rage when he attacked his girlfriend Jill Fisher in her flat in Eccleston, Lancs. The Preston Crown Court heard that he headbutted Jill before strangling her to death. Bellas admitted manslaughter but was convicted of murder and must serve a minimum of 17 years.
