Plans for anti-terror border force

Senior police officers are making plans for a 3,000-strong, anti-terrorism border force.

The new squad will consist of uniformed officers and members of Special Branch. An Association of Chief Police Officers spokesman said: “We see merit in creating a separate agency or police force which will work closely with the border agency.” The proposal for the agency came after there was Conservative criticism from the Home Office for failing to include police in the creation of the UK Border Agency in April this year.
