Woman killed in Bolton named by police

A 31-year-old woman who was allegedly killed in a 'targeted attack' has been named by police [6 June 2012].

The body of Kelly Davies was discovered on Monday afternoon at approximately 1pm in Queen's Street, Bolton.

The provisional results of a post-mortem examination show that she may have died from stab wounds, however toxicology results are yet to be released.

'Not a random attack'

Detective Inspector Chris Bridge said: "There will understandably be anxiety in the local community as people hear about the death of this young woman, but I would like to try and offer some reassurance to those who are concerned for their safety that we do not believe this was a random attack.

"However, there will be an increased police presence in the area in the coming days so I would urge anyone with concerns to approach an officer and speak to them."

"Our inquiry remains focused on trying to locate the person or people responsible and I would also appeal to anyone who has information to come forward."
