Police were aware that stabbed girl had a harasser
[4 June 2008]
The family of stabbed schoolgirl Arsema Dawit said she was harassed by a man prior to her death, and at such a level that they contacted the police.
Arsema, 15, was killed on Monday and her body was found in a lift at Matheson Lang House, Baylis Road, Waterloo. The girl's family reported a man's assaults and threats to kill Arsema to the police in April. Her family also added that they believe she had known her attacker. Police were still investigating the assault allegations when Arsema was killed on Monday, and now they are trying to establish the nature of Arsema's relationship with her killer. The man, 21, was arrested by the block of flats where Arsema was found on Monday and are being questioned by detectives.
