Pregnant woman's killer gets life

[14th March 2008]

The man who shot a 22-year old pregnant woman twice in the head will serve a minimum of 30 years in jail.

Thomas Hughes, 40, murdered Krystal Hart on the doorstep of her south-west London home after a long-running dispute.

Soon after moving into her home a year ago, Miss Hart fell out with her neighbour, 53-year old Angie Brewer. Hughes, described as a loner, lived nearby with his 81-year old disabled mother. He became besotted with Angie Brewer. Hughes murdered Krystal Hart just hours after Brewer and Hart had a row in the front garden, when Hart's fiance noted down Hughes' car registration number.

Although Hughes originally denied the murder, he was seen hurrying away from the scene minutes after the shots were fired.
