Teachers to be protected from cyber bullying

Schools Secretary Ed Balls has said that cyber bullying of teachers should be a 'serious disciplinary offence'.

An increasing number of teachers are being bullied online. The problems highlighted at a NASUWT (National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers) conference included mobile phone photos of teachers posted on the internet, students setting up pages about teachers on social networking sites and abusive calls to teachers' mobile phones.

Suggested measures include setting up a hotline for teachers to report cyber bullying.
