Man is due in court charged with Sian O’Callaghan murder

A taxi driver who was arrested last week is due in court charged with the murder of 22-year-old Sian O'Callaghan [28 March 2011]

The 47 year old taxi driver is accused of killing Sian O’Callaghan whose body was recovered.

Sian was last seen leaving Suju nightclub in Swindon on Saturday 19 March intending to go home.

Police with the help of CCTV were able to identify the registration of the vehicle that picked up her which led them to make the arrest.

Her body was found on Thursday after the arrested man indicated two locations, one near Uffington in Oxfordshire where a body of Sian was recovered and the second location in Eastleach, Gloucestershire.

Police believe the other body to be of a woman aged between 23 and 30.

Simon Brenchley, District Crown Prosecutor, CPS Wiltshire said: “Having reviewed the evidence, I am satisfied that there is sufficient to charge him, and that it is in the public interest to do so”.
