Sian O'Callaghan’s body found as police probe into double murder.

Detectives investigating the murder of Sian O'Callaghan are searching for a body of another person who was reported missing several years ago [25 March 2011]

As a result of CCTV and technical analysis of her mobile phone police reported Sian left Suju nightclub in Swindon at 2:52am intending to go home.

Police established a green Toyota Avensis had been seen near to Suju nightclub during the time she went missing.

Police were able to identify the registration of the vehicle which led them to believe that Sian had been abducted and taken away in the vehicle.

Late yesterday morning the vehicle was stopped and a man was arrested on suspicion of her kidnap. He remains in custody.

Her body was found on Thursday after the man indicated two locations. One near Uffington in Oxfordshire where a body of Sian was recovered and the second location in Eastleach, Gloucestershire, where they believe a second body may be.

Searches are currently being conducted in the area which could take several days.

Subsequently the man in custody was arrested on suspicion of kidnap and two murders. At this time, he has not been charged and remains in custody.

Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher said: “I would like to thank the local community and the media for all their help and support in this case. This is understandably a deeply distressing time for Sian’s family and I would like to express my gratitude to the media for leaving them to grieve in peace.”
