17-year-old women assaulted in Tiverton

Seeking information about incident on Tuesday 13th March [16 March 2012]

Devon and Cornwall police are appealing for information after a 17 year old woman was assaulted in a copse area situated off the old railway line in Tiverton between the hours of 4.30pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday 13th March 2012.

The woman was approached by an unknown man and pushed to the ground as she walked along the old railway line which connects Beech Road to Lea Road, and divides housing in Pinnex Moor Road and Moorhayes housing estate. The woman received minor scratches and was left very shaken.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’6” tall, late 20’s, of average build, not skinny but not fat. He had brown eyebrows and his right hand was white in colour and was ‘veiny’ on the back of his hand. He was wearing a black hooded sweat top with the hood raised over his head. This top was fitted although not tight on the suspect. In the breast area of the top was a white ‘Adidas’ logo, but it did not have any other Adidas stripes on it. The male was wearing pale blue denim jean. The man spoke only to say “shut up” to the female but had an accent that wasn’t English, possibly eastern European.
