Body found in missing man search in Derby

Police searching for a missing man have pulled the body of a 39-year-old man from the River Derwent [12 March 2012]

Officers in Derbyshire discovered the man around 1.45pm on Sunday afternoon.

 He has yet to be formally identified and police are treating his death as unexplained, a spokeswoman for Derbyshire Police said.

 The man was reported missing in the early hours of Sunday morning and it is thought he was in Derby on Saturday evening.

 The force spokeswoman said: "Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was near the River Derwent in Derby between 1pm and 7pm or who may have seen a group of men near the water."
