Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Newcastle

Appeal for witnesses after man found dead after reports of assault [7 March 2012]

Police were called to Wingrove Avenue in the west end of Newcastle at 5.25am on Wednesday, March 7, following reports that a man had been assaulted.


Police and paramedics attended and found a body of a man in the house. Paramedics attended but pronounced the man dead at the scene.  Officers are investigating the incident and are making enquiries to establish how the man came by his fatal injuries. Relatives are still being informed.


Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police. A man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.
