Stonehenge vandalised

[23 May 2008]

Vandals have broken into Stonehenge and taken a chip off of the Heel Stone using a hammer and screwdriver.

The intruders are suspected to be souvenir hunters. Souvenir hunting used to be a legitimate practice at the 5,000 year old site, when chisels were handed out to people visiting the stones. Further damage was prevented when security guards spotted the two men. It's thought they could be the same men caught acting suspiciously on CCTV a few days earlier.
