Youth crime drive has made no difference

The government drive to cut youth crimes has made 'no measurable impact' over the last ten years.
A team of criminologists at King's College London have said that although spending on tackling youth crime was up by 45% since 2000, every government reoffending target has been missed. However, the Youth Justice Board (YJB) has said that an independent audit showed that reforms have delivered improvements. The YJB and associated local Youth Offending Teams have been at the heart of the government reforms. The review of the £650million system by the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies (CCJS) at King's College says that government claims of its successes have been over-stated.
