Man, 20, arrested over pub shooting

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a teenager who was gunned down outside a pub. [2 May 2012]

Malakai McKenzie, 19, was shot in the car park of The Hubb pub in Sherwood, Nottingham, in the early hours of April 21.

Detectives believe he suffered the fatal injuries in a firearms incident in the car park of the pub, in Hucknall Road, at about 3.30am.

Three men, aged 17, 19 and 24, and a 21-year-old woman, arrested in connection with the death have all been bailed pending further enquiries, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Detectives still want to hear from anyone with information, in particular people who attended a party at The Hubb and taxi drivers who may have picked up people from the venue.

More than 60 officers are dedicated to investigating the murder of Mr McKenzie, who was taken to Queen's Medical Centre with serious injuries during the early hours of April 21. He died later that day.

A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that he died from a gunshot wound.

A number of addresses have been searched and vehicles seized by police.

Forensic examinations are also being fast-tracked to ensure vital evidence is analysed and collated as soon as possible.
