Three held over pensioner death

Three people, including a teenage boy, have been arrested on suspicion of murder after police found a pensioner dead at a flat. [22 May 2012]

The body of the 67-year-old man was discovered at an address in Coventry Road, Yardley, Birmingham, on Saturday.

West Midlands Police said officers attended the property at 6.10pm. A post mortem examination is expected to be completed later.

A force spokeswoman said a 17-year-old male and a man and woman, both aged 39, were arrested at the weekend and remained in custody today.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines said: "Police are appealing for anyone in the local area who may have information or anyone who saw any suspicious activity around the flat in Bakeman House recently to contact Force CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers confidentially on 0800 555 111."
