Anti-social behaviour team set for cash injection

[31st January 2008]

Leicestershire's youth service and youth offending service has been working with 'troublesome' 10-18 year-olds since last year, but they lack the funding to move it into more areas.

The project, which identifies and challengers youths' behaviour has been considered to be very successful, but they currently only work in three areas of Leicestershire.

Given that the majority of calls to police are about anti-social behaviour, mostly related to youths drinking, Leicestershire County Council want these youth teams to more than double their work.

A proposal for an additional £200,000 of funding will be finalised on 20th February.
