Armed robbers strike Manchester's luxury department stores

Selfridges and Harvey Nichols in Manchester were simultaneously targeted by armed robbers on 16th April.

The gangs were armed with claw hammers and stole watches from both stores, with a combined value of £700,000. Two men in helmets attached security guards in Harvey Nichols.

The five men escaped in a red Ford Transit van, which was previously stolen from Prestwich and has since been recovered.

One of the men has been described as being of a stocky build, 5ft 10in and was wearing a peaked 'BMX-style' helmet.
