Bowling to beat crime

[5 August 2008]

Throughout the month of July, Crimestoppers teamed up with the Tenpin Bowling Proprietors Association (TBPA) to promote the charity through a ‘111' competition.

Our Volunteer Boards have been working closely with their local bowling centres to encourage the public to call our anonymous 0800 555 111 telephone number with information about crime. At the same time, bowlers who score 111 whilst playing at any of the participating centres will be entered into local finals, with the opportunity to win prizes. Through this partnership bowlers have been able to enjoy bringing a more competitive edge to their game, whilst learning more about how they can use Crimestoppers to help remove criminals from the street and make their communities safer.

Thames Valley Crimestoppers bowl to beat crimeWhen the partnership launched, a TBPA spokesperson said: "The TBPA is delighted to team up with Crimestoppers to help promote the fight against crime. Bowlers entering this competition will have a great deal of fun trying to score 111".

Crimestoppers said: “We are delighted to be working with the TBPA on this competition which will offer the charity a valuable platform on which to promote its anonymous 0800 555 111 number to a wide audience, especially young people and families.”
