Device to prevent spiked drinks

Police are distributing devices designed to prevent drinks from being spiked.

The 'Spikey' was initially promoted by Lancashire Police last year during its 'Summer Nights' campaign. The device fits into the neck of a bottle and a straw fits through, which helps to prevent drugs or alcohol from being added to drinks. Police are supplying pubs and off-licences with the devices to help prevent the deliberate contamination of drinks.
