DNA clue from 1971 murder uncovered
[2 June 2008]
Detectives have uncovered a new DNA clue dating back to a 1971 teenage murder.
It is believed that the clue could help identify the killer who raped and beat Dorothy Leyden to death 30 years ago. Police are re-looking at the evidence that dates back to April 1971, when Dorothy's body was found at the back of a Manchester pub. The young girl had attended a Jimmy Ruffin concert that night and was walking home before she was attacked. Police are hoping that forensic science and even reported information that people remember from years ago can help them solve this case.
