Premier league footballer jailed for six months

Joey Barton, the Newcastle and England midfielder, has been jailed for assault and affray.
Last December, CCTV in Liverpool caught Barton punching a man 20 times before attacking a teenage boy. The blows knocked out the 16-year-old's teeth, and Barton was forced to pay £2,500 for the damage. Barton's cousin and brother were also involved in the attacks and pleaded guilty to their involvement. Barton had been drinking excessively before he assaulted the victims.
