Rape attempt on woman in Oxford alleyway
A man tried to rape a woman in an alleyway in east Oxford on Sunday morning, police have said [7 November 2011]
The suspect came to the woman’s assistance after she was harassed by a group of men near Howard Street at about 02:45 GMT.
He walked the 20 year old Shelley Road where he attempted to rape her in an alleyway.
The woman managed to fight off the attacker and called the police.
He was described as being an Asian man, aged around 22 years of age, and of large physical build.
The man had short hair and a closely shaven beard, spoke with a foreign accent, and was wearing a tracksuit, police said.
