Man in critical condition after Clapham High Street shooting
A man in his 20s was shot and seriously injured in a busy south London shopping street [6 October 2011]
The shooting happened on Clapham High Street at about 21:40 BST and and the victim was taken to hospital with "life-threatening injuries".
The Met's Trident Unit, which investigates gun crime in the capital's black communities, has been informed.
Some of the surrounding area and roads had been closed off whilst police gathered evidence.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police got called at about 9.40pm after a male was shot on Clapham High Street.
"He had suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital. His injuries are being treated as life-threatening."
