Woman charged with murdering her brother

A woman from Ferryhill, county Durham, has been charged with the murder of her brother after an incident on Friday evening [17 October 2011]

The woman’s 24-year-old brother is believed to have died after suffering a stab wound to the chest, according to a post-mortem examination carried out.

The man was taken to hospital following the incident but he was pronounced dead at hospital.

The incident occurred at a residence on the High Street in Ferryhill. The victim is reportedly local to the area, and his sister, aged 21, lives on Coniston Road.

There have been ten other people arrested in connection with the incident, all of whom have now been released without charge.

Detectives have appealed for information.
