Alcohol misuse is leading to crime among young people

Scottish hospitals treated over 40,000 people with alcohol-related conditions last year and the number of under-15s who needed hospital care for alcohol-related problems rose by 10%.

Alcohol-related crime costs an estimated £7.3billion a year. The 'Highland News' is encouraging projects in the Highlands to enter the CHAMP Awards (Promoting Children's Health through Alcohol Misuse Prevention). The CHAMP Awards recognise projects in schools, communities and youth schemes that help prevent alchoholism in young people.
