[24 September 2008]

A couple are being questioned on suspicion of murdering 12 residents at the Somerset care home they managed.

Rachel Baker, a 46-year old nurse, and her husband Leigh, 50, were originally arrested in 2007 over the deaths of five people at Parkfields Home in Butleigh. It has now been confirmed that the couple are now being questioned over a further seven suspicious deaths. They had managed the home for more than ten years. Mr and Mrs Baker, who have a six-year old daughter, are also suspected of theft, unlawful possession of controlled prescribed drugs and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
