[25 September 2008]
Officers have been searching for a suspected gunman in Warwickshire after a lorry was shot at near Rugby train station.
Train services on the West Coast mainline were suspended for more than three hours while officers searched the track near the station. Police believe that 'heavy duty ball bearings' were fired at the lorry, which had the potential to cause serious or fatal injury. The lorry was damaged in the incident but no-one was hurt. An extensive search of the area continued until after 11pm, but no-one has been arrested. Police are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.
