Kercher accused face pre-trial

[16 September 2008]

A hearing is due to take place to decide whether the three people accused of killing Meredith Kercher in Italy should face trial.

Amanda Knox, Raffaele Sollecito and Rudy Guede all deny sexual assault and murder. Miss Kercher, from Coulsdon in south London, was found with her throat slit, semi-naked, in her bedroom of her flat in Perugia last November. Knox from Seattle and Sollecito from Italy have been in jail since last November, while Guede, originally from the Ivory Coast, was later arrested in Germany and was extradited to Italy in December.
