London crime maps launched

[3 September 2008]

Online maps showing reported crime in London have been launched, showing numbers of muggings, burglaries and vehicle break-ins.

People are able to enter-in their postcode and find out the number of reported crimes for that postcode, as well as the wider neighbourhood. The maps will also allow users to report crime online and find details of local police stations. The maps have been used in other cities such as New York. The government has said it will publish crime maps for the whole of England and Wales by the end of the year.
