Man questioned over women murders

[17 September 2008]

Police are questioning a man arrested at Dover over the murders of two women in Birmingham.

Two women in their early 20s were found in their luxury flat on Ryland Street in Ladywood. Officers have said that there was a 'substantial amount of blood inside many of the rooms'. There was no sign of forced entry at the flat in the Jupiter Apartments complex. Both women are said to have been subjected to a 'sustained and violent attack' and one or more weapons were used. A 28-year old man was arrested on Tuesday as he tried to board a ferry at Dover. Police believe the man may have been known to the women, although he was not related to them. A post-mortem examination will take place once the bodies have been removed from the building.
