Policeman stabbed in chest

An off-duty police officer has been stabbed in the chest and arm as he tried to break up a fight.

The detective sergeant was walking along a street in Dronfield, Derbyshire, when he saw a fight within a group pf people. He told the group that he was a police officer in an attempt to stop the fight and was subsequently stabbed several times. He was taken to Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal Hospital. His injuries are not described as life threatening. A 29-year old man was arrested on suspicion of murder following the attack.
