Fingerprint scanning implemented at nurseries

Two Kent nursery schools are using fingerprint scanners to identify parents.
Springfield Lodge Day Nurseries in Dartford and Swanscombe have installed the new technology. Parents' fingerprints are scanned each time they drop off and pick up their children to ensure the safety of the children. Some critics believe it sends the wrong message to youngsters, making it seem like the world is so dangerous that scanners are in their schools. However, the director of the nursery stressed the new system's ‘safety and security' purpose and said parents are happy with the new technology.
