Man arrested over Sussex attacks
[11 August 2008]
A man has been arrested following a string of violent attacks on women in Hastings.
The arrest came after the latest attack on a 38-year old woman who was walking along a quiet footpath on Sunday night. A 26-year old man is being questioned over the assault and other attacks in East Sussex. Detectives are currently investigating 10 attacks, all on women and teenage girls, in Operation Medium. The attacks took place between June 2007 and May 2008 and victims were aged between 16 and 33. The attacker has been striking between 9pm and 3am, and there appears to be no sexual motive and nothing has been stolen. Sussex Police and the charity Crimestoppers are offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
