Prison not forceful enough

The Chief Inspector of Prisons has criticised the use of force at Dartmoor Prison.

The report by Ann Owers said that furniture was missing from many cells and that the prison was failing to enforce its offensive display policy, as many cells were covered in soft pornography. Prison staff were not found to be engaging with prisoners. Furthermore, Dartmoor is a training prison, but the provision of activities are insufficient - a third of prisoners were unemployed and the other prisoners had too much mundane and unskilled work.
