Man arrested as Antigua victim Ben Mullany dies

[4 August 2008]

Honeymoon shooting victim Ben Mullany died yesterday after he was flown back to a Swansea hospital.

A man named as Clarence James, or 'Cloud', who has been described as a drug dealer and a drifter, has been described by local police as the main suspect in the double murder. Ben's wife, Catherine Mullany, was killed instantly during a suspected attempted robbery at their cottage at the Cocos hotel, where the couple were honeymooning. Five Scotland Yard detectives have flown to Antigua to help the local police force. They are believed to be looking for more than one suspect. Antigua's police commissioner has also said that the shooting may be linked to another murder on the island less than two months ago.
