Grandmother's murderer jailed

Joanne Hussey must serve at least 20 years for killing her grandmother with a spade.
Hussey admitted manslaughter in a trial last month and claimed voices in her head told her to do it. The Leeds Crown Court heard Hussey knew she would gain financially from her grandmother's death. Annie Garbutt, 76, was murdered at her cottage in Mirfield on 7 May 2007. Hussey repeatedly battered the elderly woman over the head and chest with a spade and left her lying in pools of blood.
