Teenage murder leads to action call
[27 May 2008]
After Amar Aslam, 17, died in an attack on Sunday, an MP has called for tougher action against violent youths.
Dewsbury MP Shahid Malik stressed that harsher sentencing was needed along with help from parents and communities to crack down on youth violence. The call for action came after the teenager was found brutally attacked in Crow Nest Park in Dewsbury. A 20-year-old man and four young people aged from 12 to 15 have been arrested for the murder, which police think may be gang related. The MP spoke that parents must take more responsibility for their children and the community has to work more closely with the police in order to prevent future tragedies.
