Murder North Belfast

Police are appealing for information from the public after a 15 year old boy was stabbed.

Police at North Queen Street have began a murder enquiry after a fifteen-year-old boy was attacked and stabbed as he walked with two friends along Somerton Road in North Belfast. One of his friends was also injured.

Police believe two young males in their mid teens to early twenties were involved in the attack which happened shortly before midnight on Wednesday 10th of August.

The victim, Thomas John Devlin was from the Somerton Road and he and his friends were returning home after walking a short distance to a local garage when the attack happened.

Police believe the attackers had a dog with them and following the murder it is believed they made their way towards Lansdowne Road.

Detective Superintendent Colin Sturgeon said the attack was horrific and described it as random in nature. He urged anyone who may have seen the two men with the dog in the Somerton Road or Lansdowne Road area around the time of the murder or anyone with any information, which could assist detectives with their enquiries to contact the incident room on 02890 700317 or Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
