Crimestoppers launches adverts to help keep racing clean
[26th May 2006]
Crimestoppers launched a new advert at Goodwood Racecourse on 25th May, to further raise the awareness of the Crimestoppers number in the racing industry. The advert will be shown at race courses across the UK and by racing broadcasters.
The advert was produced by Satellite Information Services, and TV sports commentator Mike Cattermole provided the voiceover. It will be broadcast within betting shops by SIS and will also be shown at racecourses by Racetech and Racecourse Video Services.
This is the latest initiative in a partnership which was launched a year ago between Crimestoppers, the Jockey Club (now Horseracing Regulatory Authority) and the Racecourse Association which aims to raise awareness of the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 number in racing.
Paul Scotney, Director of Security for the HRA, said: "Our partnership with Crimestoppers has already reaped rewards, as information we received via Crimestoppers has already led to owner David Wright being found guilty of placing bets on his own horse to lose. The early signs are that the information we receive will be of great use to us in our attempts to keep racing clean."
Since the partnership was launched in April 2005, Crimestoppers regional network has developed effective partnerships with racecourses around the country including branded advertising during Cheltenham Festival week, a Race Day at Newbury and a sponsored race at Windsor where they also presented a cup which all generated extensive publicity.
Forthcoming awareness campaigns include a Crimestoppers race day at Lingfield on 6 June, Towcester on 2 June and in Nottingham in September.
