We want to inform the public that Crimestoppers information-gathering should be not be confused with anonymous witnesses.

Our charity is not involved in recruiting anonymous witnesses – our business is about taking anonymous information from the public about crimes which we then pass onto the police. People telephoning 0800 555 111 are not required to give evidence in court nor are they required to become witnesses. We want to know what you know not who you are. Our valuable service to law enforcement will continue as it has done for the last 20 years – 17 people are arrested or charged every day thanks to the information passed onto Crimestoppers.
