Appeal summary

On the fourth anniversary of the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky, West Yorkshire Police are asking the people of Pakistan to help trace a man wanted in connection with her murder.

Enquiries to trace 50 year old Piran Ditta Khan have been underway since the murder of PC Beshenivsky, on November 18th 2005.

Those enquiries are still under way, but police believe there is a strong possibility that Khan is in Pakistan and through Crimestoppers, have taken the unusual step of releasing a wanted poster there, offering a £20,000 reward.

“I am as committed now as I was in November 2005 to see this enquiry through to a conclusion. It is extremely important we trace Piran Ditta Khan and place him before the courts in Great Britain”, said Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan, the man who has led the enquiry throughout.

“I am appealing directly to people in Pakistan – if you know, or suspect you know, where Piran Ditta Khan might be, please tell us.”

PC Beshenivsky was shot dead as she and a colleague attended a report of a robbery at Universal Travel Agents, Morley Street, Bradford on November 18th 2005.

Six people have already been convicted for their part in the robbery and murder, one of them recently extradited from Somalia.
