Volunteering

Volunteers are integral to the success of the charity Crimestoppers.

The hard work and talent of our 460+ volunteers is helping to take criminals out of communities up and down the country.

As a charity, our volunteers really do make a difference. They make sure our anonymous phone number, 0800 555 111, and secure online form are promoted incredibly successfully. As a consequence, they are helping to ensure that more people know Crimestoppers is there for them as an anonymous route for them to pass on information about crime.

Some people don't want to go to the police with the information they know about crime and criminals. They may fear retribution or be unwilling to go to court. By spreading the word that Crimestoppers guarantees anonymity - we never take a caller's name or trace calls or online forms - our volunteers are helping to release the fear of crime overshadowing lives and communities.

Here are just some of the campaigns our volunteers have done:

Too much bling give us a ring - Kent CrimestoppersDrug dealers don't care - Jersey Crimestoppers

Underage drinking - Surrey CrimestoppersGraffiti - Hampshire Crimestoppers

Did you know...?

Our volunteers contribute approximately 42,000 hours of work to the charity Crimestoppers each year

The impact our volunteers make can be seen in the statistics:

  • In 2010/11 Crimestoppers received 90,868 actionable calls which led to the recovery of £3,155,704 worth of stolen goods and £25,339,693 worth of illegal drugs
  • On average 23 people are arrested every day thanks to information given to Crimestoppers
